Health and Wellbeing - 112 Emergency Line

Dutch residents are required to have health insurance. But also when you don’t have an insurence, you still have the right to get necessary medical support. 

You have the right to call 112 and to go to the hospital in the case of medical emergencies. 

What do you need to know?  

Call 112 immediately in life threatening situations! For example in case of: 
• fire in your house 
• urgent safety issues 
• a bad accident or injury 
• a heart attack 
• other health emergencies or life threatening situations that require immediate care. 

If you are at risk or victim of a crime, you can safely call the police. Even when you are undocumented

Basic Rights: 

Without legal status you have the right to get necessary medical help, to call 112, to call the huisartsenpost and to see a family doctor. Also, you have the right to get a Covid test and vaccination for free.
